Everyday girls lose themselves in order to get thin. In order to feel in control. To feel pretty.

Pro ana is a fact; a phenomenon known buy millions of boys and girls across the globe. It slowly kills hundreds of people, and devastates the life of thousands. There is nothing we can do about the fact that young girls destroy the life of their own and others. There is something we can do about why. And why is it that so many girls (and boys) hate their bodies? I first want to make one thing clear, anorexia and other forms of eating disorders are very much metal illnesses that is to be taken serious. Most of the people suffering from these types of disorders do not do so because of the internet phenomenon that is PRO ANA. Anyway, we should see pro ana as a threat to our society, as a threat to our sons and daughters. As a threat to us. Now back to my question; what can we do to help? Here are 5 simple steps that will HELP change the horrible view on the human body.

  1. Take complete distance from any form of Pro Ana and thinspiration.
  2. Do not support the fashion industry, which needless to say breeds both pro ana and eating disorders.
  3. Take good care of the young people in your society, and in your family. Talk to them, and tell them that they are just as they are supposed to be.
  4. Don’t buy magazines that benefit from young girls lack of self-esteem. Do not buy magazines that glorify extreme dieting and underweight celebrities.
  5. Tell people what you think, what you believe in. If you believe that pro ana is wrong, and if you believe that the ideal body of today is wrong. LET PEOPLE KNOW. The more we talk about this, the better!

Now go out, change the world!
